A faction of the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party loyal to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has suspended former Deputy National Chairman Bode George and 23 other members for alleged anti-party activities.

The party's disciplinary committee announced the suspension on Friday in a statement signed by its chairman Kayode Ogunbiyi and secretary Desmond Agbo. The committee said it could no longer tolerate activities that create division and disaffection among members.

The action followed a meeting on May 26, 2026, where the committee reviewed multiple petitions alleging anti-party activities and violations of the PDP constitution. In the resolution, the committee suspended George alongside Aduke Maina, Abimbola Ogunkelu, Laja Adeoye, Tunji Shele, Sunday Olaifa, Gbenga Adegbesan, Rita Orji, Kofoworola Bucknor, and Onikepo Oshodi among others.

The disciplinary committee also revisited an earlier suspension of George by the party's National Executive Committee and upheld that decision. George, a heavyweight in Lagos PDP circles, now faces a complete ban from party activities in the state and cannot represent the party in any official or unofficial capacity.

The committee examined cases where members allegedly worked with rival political parties or participated in unauthorised political activities that it considered detrimental to the PDP's interests. The statement warned that legal action could be taken against any suspended member found acting contrary to the party's interests in Lagos State.

This suspension deepens the ongoing factional crisis within Lagos PDP, with the Wike-aligned group asserting its control over party discipline and messaging. The next move lies with the suspended members, who may seek to challenge the suspension through the party's internal appeals process or take their grievances to the courts.
