Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, tolerance, and sacrifice as Muslims across the country mark Eid-el-Kabir.
In a message on Tuesday, Mbah extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful in Enugu State and nationwide, framing the festival as a moment for all Nigerians to reflect on shared values and collective progress. He urged citizens to show solidarity with the less privileged and demonstrate charity during the celebration.
"Eid-el-Kabir reminds us that sacrifice lies at the very heart of true service to God and humanity," Mbah said. He pointed to the patience, obedience, trust, and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim as timeless lessons for everyone, regardless of faith.
The governor said the festival carries particular weight as Nigeria navigates political and economic transitions. He argued that the nation's progress depends on upholding unity, mutual respect, peace, and compassion above divisions. "Let us be reminded that we all belong to one shared humanity," he added.
Mbah used the occasion to press for recommitment to tolerance and sacrifice for the common good. He called on all citizens to pray for peace, stability, and prosperity in Enugu State and the nation, while working together in harmony to build a society defined by justice, opportunity, and shared progress.
The governor concluded by wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.
