Mabel Bodzah is fighting to keep her 31-year-old son alive. John Harrison Bodzah has been in critical condition for months after a workplace accident left him with a shattered left arm, damaged kidneys, and severe urinary complications that doctors say require immediate surgery.
The accident sent John from hospital to hospital before he landed at a general hospital, where he has remained bedridden, unable to eat properly and struggling to urinate. His mother told Sunday Vanguard that the injuries have destroyed everything the family built. John lost his job. The family spent their savings on treatment. Now they have nothing left.
"Before the accident, John was a strong, hardworking young man. Today, he is fighting for his life," Mabel said. "I am pleading with Nigerians and kindhearted individuals to please help save my son."
Dr. Grace Gabriel, CEO of Full Grace Healthcare Services in Port Harcourt, issued a medical report confirming the severity of John's condition. The scans showed obstructive uropathy caused by bladder outlet obstruction, with serious damage to both kidneys. Doctors have already performed one bladder surgery, but John still depends on a catheter and cannot leave the hospital without risking further complications.
The medical team estimates that complete treatment will cost N14.5 million. This includes additional kidney surgery, dialysis sessions, and skin grafting for his injured arm. Mabel disclosed that without this money, her son faces a slow decline toward kidney failure and possible death.
People who want to help can send donations to the family's First Bank account. The account name is Joshua Bodzah, and the account number is 3036970550. For questions about the donation, people can call 08162619099 or 08123875033.
Mabel's appeal now rests with the generosity of Nigerians who can spare whatever they can afford to push her son past this crisis.
