Rotary District 9111 hosts Royal Conference in Abeokuta in May

Rotary International District 9111 will hold its Royal Conference 2026 in Abeokuta from May 7 to 10, bringing together Rotarians, Rotaractors, and humanitarian leaders from Nigeria and beyond. The conference takes place in a city celebrated for its culture, hospitality, and the ancient Olumo Rock landmark.

District Governor Prince Henry Akinyele said the event will be a celebration of service, leadership, fellowship, and humanitarian action. The conference theme, "Unite for Good," aligns with the global vision of Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo and reflects the district's focus on membership growth and community impact.

Speakers confirmed for the conference include Oba (Dr) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom in Epe, Lagos State; Dr. Kwame Baach-Acheamfuor, Deputy Editor of Rotary International Zone 22 Region 27 Public Image monthly Magazine; Dr Adedeji Ashiru, Managing Director of the Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority; and Abit Ragbeer, Assistant Rotary Membership Coordinator for District 7230.

Past Assistant Governor Dayo Niyi Idowu, chairman of the Royal Conference 2026, said participants will attend insightful plenary sessions, leadership development opportunities, business networking engagements, and cultural showcases. The schedule includes a welcome party, a gala night, exhibitions, and opportunities for sponsorship and strategic collaboration.

Idowu said the Abeokuta setting offers attendees a chance to experience Ogun State's heritage, history, tourism, cuisine, and hospitality while engaging with Rotary's future direction. For non-Rotarians, the conference presents an opportunity to learn about Rotary's global work in promoting peace, fighting disease, supporting education, growing local economies, protecting the environment, and delivering sustainable service projects.

"Royal Conference 2026 is not merely an event, it is a meeting of minds and a royal convergence of purpose-driven individuals united for good," Idowu said. He added that expectations are high for what promises to be one of the most memorable district conferences in Rotary District 9111's history. The conference will run from May 7 to May 10, 2026 in Abeokuta.
