Dr. Augustina Godwin, Taraba State Commissioner for Secondary, Technical and Vocational Education, has ordered principals, invigilators and supervisors to conduct the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination without any form of malpractice.
Godwin gave the directive on Saturday during a sensitization meeting held at the Government Technical and Training School in Jalingo. The gathering brought together examination officials and school administrators from Lau, Karim Lamido, Jalingo and Ardo-Kola local government areas to prepare for the examination.
The commissioner stressed that professionalism, discipline and integrity must guide how examination officials handle their duties. She said the Taraba State Government under Governor Agbu Kefas remains focused on promoting quality education and restoring public confidence in the examination system. "Taraba State must continue to stand out in academic excellence through hard work and credibility. We must collectively ensure zero malpractice during the conduct of WAEC examinations," she said.
Godwin warned examination officials and school administrators against all forms of malpractice and urged strict compliance with WAEC rules and guidelines. She made clear that no deviation from the laid-down procedures would be tolerated during the examination period.
The WAEC Branch Controller in Taraba commended Governor Kefas for his support of the education sector. According to the controller, Kefas became the first governor in Taraba to pay all 2026 WAEC-related fees on behalf of the state, easing the financial burden on parents and increasing student participation in the examinations. The governor also donated a utility van to the WAEC office and has provided other forms of support to improve the examination body's operations in the state.
The sensitization meeting signals the state government's determination to ensure a credible examination process ahead of the 2026 WASSCE. School administrators and examination officials who attended have been tasked with disseminating the message to their respective institutions.
