Yobe APC chieftain Tumsah picks governorship form, demands fair primary

Kashim Tumsah, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Yobe State, has obtained his governorship expression of interest and nomination forms, signalling his intention to contest the party's primary election.

Tumsah collected the forms at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, throwing his hat into the ring ahead of what promises to be a keenly contested primary in the northeastern state. His entry into the race adds another dimension to the growing list of aspirants jostling for the party's ticket.

While speaking after picking up the forms, Tumsah called on the APC leadership to guarantee a level playing field for all candidates during the primary process. He stressed the importance of transparency and fairness, arguing that such qualities would strengthen the party and boost its chances in the general election.

Tumsah's demand for a credible primary reflects concerns that have been raised by various aspirants across different states about the conduct of intra-party elections. He believes that an open and honest process will produce a candidate strong enough to win the general election and serve the people of Yobe effectively.

The APC had earlier fixed timelines for the collection of nomination forms by aspirants interested in various offices. Tumsah's move aligns with these schedules, and his entry means the Yobe governorship race will feature multiple candidates competing for party endorsement.

As the primary election date approaches, observers expect more aspirants to pick their forms and campaign across the state to win delegates' support. The outcome of the primary will determine who flies the APC flag in the governorship election, a position that has remained significant in Yobe politics.
