Terrorists stormed a Kogi community and kidnapped a woman and her young child in a fresh attack that has deepened security concerns in the state.
Mrs. Idowu Kemi Titilayo and her toddler were seized by armed gunmen during the assault near Solid Rock School. The attackers struck without warning, forcing their way into the neighbourhood and snatching the victims before residents could mount a defence.
The incident marks another brazen abduction in a region where armed groups have stepped up operations in recent months. Kogi has become increasingly vulnerable to such attacks, with communities left struggling to protect their people from raiders who move with relative impunity.
No ransom demand has been reported yet, though families of abductees typically expect contact from the kidnappers within hours of an attack. Security forces have not yet issued a statement on whether they are pursuing the gunmen or conducting any rescue operations.
Local authorities are expected to brief residents on the incident and steps being taken to secure the community.
