PFN denies national prayer programme tied to Pastor Adeboye

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has pushed back against suggestions that its nationwide prayer initiative is connected to Pastor Enoch Adeboye or the Redeemed Christian Church of God, dismissing the claims as false and misleading.

Critics had linked the prayer programme to Adeboye and RCCG, but the PFN said the nationwide effort belongs to no single pastor or church. The organisation said it organised the prayer event as an umbrella body representing multiple Pentecostal churches across Nigeria.

The PFN said the prayer programme was designed to unite churches in intercession for the nation, addressing economic hardship, insecurity, and other national challenges. It added that the initiative reflects the collective voice of the Pentecostal movement, not the agenda of any individual leader or denomination.

Adeboye leads the RCCG, Nigeria's largest Pentecostal church with millions of members. The PFN's statement came after online criticism suggesting the prayer event was orchestrated by Adeboye to boost his influence. The fellowship said such interpretations miss the point of the exercise and undermine efforts to unite believers.

The PFN represents hundreds of Pentecostal churches in Nigeria. It said it would continue organising national prayers and other programmes without reference to individual personalities. The organisation urged Nigerians to focus on the spiritual purpose of the prayer event rather than speculating about individual motives.
