FC Basel winger Philip Otele has joined the Super Eagles squad in Warsaw ahead of Friday's international friendly against Poland, bringing head coach Éric Chelle's available players to 21.
The 27-year-old travelled from his club in Switzerland after featuring in Nigeria's two matches at the Unity Cup invitational tournament last week. He came off the bench during the competition in Morocco and provided an assist in the Super Eagles' 3-0 final victory over Jamaica's Reggae Boyz.
Otele has earned three caps for Nigeria since making his debut against Jordan in March this year. His late arrival in the Warsaw camp means Chelle is likely to use him as a substitute option rather than start him against the hosts.
The winger's inclusion adds depth to Nigeria's attacking options for the fixture. The Super Eagles will look to build on their strong showing at the Unity Cup, where they won the tournament without conceding a goal across their three matches. Poland will provide a different test as the friendly serves as part of both nations' preparations ahead of upcoming continental and World Cup qualifiers.
