Wireless, a scripted series thriller has been ordered by Quibi and Tye Sheridan will star in it as the protagonist.
Sheridan is a fast-rising Hollywood actor who appeared in the rebooted X-Men movies and in Ready Player One. His casting is hopefully to attract a lot of viewership and given his film resume, a lot is expected from him here.
Executive produced by Steven Soderbergh, Wireless will see Sheridan play a self-obsessed college student stranded in the Colorado mountains after he crashes his car. His only hope is his phone. The problem is its battery is dying rapidly.
Billed as a “survival movie for the next generation about the lies we tell through our phones, and the lies that our phones tell us”, the series will be directed by Zach Wechter and production will start this week.
Sheridan hailed Wireless as a new form of storytelling, saying that it was the first of its kind.
It’s a completely new way of storytelling, a format that is the first of its kind, and I truly believe that it will establish an important new language and pave the way for many more like it in the future.Tye Sheridan – variety.com
