The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has put a stop to both sexes being conveyed by the same tricycles across the state.
Ganduje made the declaration yesterday, December 25, 2019, at the closing ceremony of the yearly Islamic Vacation Course (IVC) organized by the Muslim Society of Nigeria (MSN) which took place at Bayero University, Kano.
The Governor who was represented by Harun Ibn-Sina, the Commander General of Hisbah Board, stated that the state was focused on its commitment to ensuring that Islamic laws were upheld.
Ibrahim Shekarau, a former governor of the state had introduced commercial tricycles known as ‘A Daidaita Sahu’ as a means of transporting only the female folk.
Since Shekarau’s tenure came to an end, tricycles have been allowed to carry men and women, a development that the current administration has decided to change.
Governor Ganduje while speaking at the event advised those present to concentrate on their studies and avoid drug abuse. He also criticized the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for its response to the United States’ classification of Nigeria as one of the countries where religious freedom was not guaranteed.
