Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State was attacked during service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Makurdi.
According to the report, immediately he mounted the alter, an owl went straight to the altar where he was kneeling down and landed on his head.
The night bird, which is superstitiously believed to be a witchcraft bird, was killed by some youth in the church.
This comes after the recent Supreme Court ruling affirming him as the governor of Benue.
