Bobrisky is set to make history in a country with no Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender [LGBT ]rights as he has made his relationship with his friend Tonto Dikeh known.
The controversial crossdresser who celebrated his friendship anniversary with Dikeh in December 2019 and wrote lovely words to his bestie this time asked for Tonto Dikeh’s hand in marriage in an attempt to make history together.
Bobrisky plans to be the first gay man with a plan of having a wedding ceremony in Nigeria and he also shared a note of warning to people who intend to be Tonto Dikeh friend, saying;
When new friends come around to me pls always know that @tontolet is around and I can’t be friends to no one biko.”
Nigeria does not allow or recognize LGBT rights, both male and female same-sex sexual activity is illegal in Nigeria. The maximum punishment in the twelve northern states that have adopted Shari’a law is death by stoning.
That law applies to all Muslims and to those who have voluntarily consented to the application of the Shari’a courts. In southern Nigeria and under the secular criminal laws of northern Nigeria, the maximum punishment for same-sex sexual activity is 14 years’ imprisonment. The Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act criminalizes all forms of same-sex unions and same-sex marriage throughout the country.
