Kano state says it carried out a verbal autopsy to ascertain the cause of the recent rising Deaths in the state.
The state has recorded a high rate of deaths in the past week amid the Coronavirus outbreak prompting a probe to ascertain the cause(s) of the deaths.
The state’s Commissioner of Information, Muhammed Garba, however stated that the deaths were caused by complications arising from hypertension, diabetes, meningitis and acute malaria.
Speaking more on the recent rising deaths, the Coordinator of the Kano State Technical Response Team on COVID-19, Dr. Tijani Hussain, noted that ‘verbal autopsies’ were opted for from the family of the deceased.
According to him, the religion of the majority people in the state does not encourage autopsy before burial.
He stated this during an interview on Wazobia FM monitored by odunews.com.
He also confirmed that three of the state’s confirmed Coronavirus cases are on the run.
The Kano state Coronavirus testing centre has not been in operation for days but Huassain noted that the suspended operations of the NCDC testing laboratory in the state will be reactivated on Tuesday.
He added that the NCDC officials are fully on ground now, working out modalities to begin operations.
