Health officials in Wuhan (the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic) declared that the city’s hospitals no longer have coronavirus patients.

The Chinese National Health Commission spokesman Mi Feng revealed that the number of new COVID-19 patients in Wuhan was zero.

Feng stated that the zero cases recorded in the city is as a result of coordinated efforts between medical personnel across China.

The lockdown in Wuhan was lifted on April 8, 2020, but restrictions are still in place as regards public transportation.

China has been accused by world leaders of suppressing key information about the virus early on, with the United States specifically accusing China of keeping the World Health Organization (WHO) under its control, leading to President Donald Trump freezing almost $400 million of funding to the body.

China said it would donate $30 million to the WHO as health experts in the US and Europe question how it was so successful in controlling the virus when neighboring nations like Singapore have seen new outbreaks.
