Grimes called out her boyfriend Elon Musk publicly after the Tesla mogul tweeted that ‘pronouns suck’.
Musk, 49, seemed to be on a mocking spree as he added a red rose emoji to his Twitter name and his tweets – an emoji that is used as a symbol for the Democratic Socialists of America.
On Friday, the multi-billionaire tweeted: ‘[rose emoji] Twitter sucks. I bet no one on [rose emoji] Twitter even *has* a guillotine! Poseurs!’ However, he stirred up further controversy later in the evening, when Musk tweeted: ‘Pronouns suck.’’
YouTuber CrankGameplays replied: ‘F*** you’ before writing:
‘So is not respecting someone’s pronouns and the way they identify lol’, while journalist Molly Lambert wrote: ‘you/you are so stupid.’
But the most pointed reply came from Elon’s girlfriend and mother of his baby son, Grimes.
In a now-deleted tweet, the 32-year-old said she ‘cannot support this hate’.
The Oblivion singer, real name Claire Boucher, responded:
‘I love you but please turn off ur phone or give me a dall [sic]. ‘I cannot support this hate. Please stop this. I know this is not your heart.’ The post was deleted soon afterwards.
Grimes and Elon have been dating for over two years, making their surprise debut as a couple at the 2018 Met Gala.
On 4 May this year, they welcomed their first child together, and attracted much attention due to the totally standard name they bestowed on the tot – X AE A-XII.
Amazingly, this is a simplified version of the baby’s original name – X Æ A-12 – which had to be tweaked due to Californian laws on having no symbols or numbers in birth names.
The couple welcomed baby X two months ago (Picture: @elonmusk) But with Grimes’ latest tweet, it seems there could be trouble in paradise – especially seeing as the singer’s family is just as annoyed with Elon’s tweets. Back in May, Grimes’s mum Sandy Garossino was infuriated after her son-in-law tweeted: ‘Take the red pill’ – a phrase used to used to signal a right-wing political awakening, as well as being used in forums for ‘men’s rights’.
In a now-deleted tweet, Sandy wrote: ‘If your partner went through a challenging pregnancy and childbirth in the last two weeks… And you were over 16 years old, would you be blaring MRA bulls*** on Twitter right now?’
