The two tier 1 banks appear to have paid mere lip service to the customers’ complaints. Findings by OduNews show that the glitches faced by customers of these banks have been recurring for over 3 weeks.

The complaint by customers of the banks have centred around debit alerts on various payment platforms without cash or crediting the recipients. Some of these payment platforms or channels include online banking, PoS terminals, Automatic Teller Machines (ATM), USSD, banking apps and others.

Expressing his frustration at the poor service rendered by Zenith bank in recent times, Mr Usman who is an artisan complained that he has not been able to make a cash transfer via the bank’s app.

He said “I have been trying to send money to get some materials I need for work for the past 3 days but Zenith bank has been malfunctioning. My client is on my neck now, she feels I have spent the money she gave me but it’s all on Zenith bank. I will have to join a better bank or else my business will be affected”

Speaking to our correspondent, Miss Janet who banks with UBA, expressed angst over the bank’s apathy towards customers’ complaints after facing some difficulties with their internet banking service. She said, “I have been going and coming to the bank for days but my complaint has not been resolved. I was debited when I used my ATM card at one their machines without getting any cash. It has been over 3 days now and I’m yet to get a reversal. It seems the bank does not care about their customers.”

The frustration many of these customers’ have been subjected to by the banks’ poor services has overwhelmed the social media space since Monday.
