The Management of the Chicago State University has reacted to claims that the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, did not attend its institution.
According to a report by the ICIR, the management of the college affirmed that the former Lagos state governor graduated from the institution.
Caleb Westberg, a Registrar in the Office of Records and Registration in the institution, said Tinubu attended the university from August 1977 to June 1979.
“Please be advised that Bola A. Tinubu attended Chicago State University from August 1977 to June 1979,” he said.
“He was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with Honors on June 22, 1979.”
While at the CSU, Westberg noted that Tinubu’s major was in accounting.
Tinubu’s academic qualifications and records have in recent times become a subject of controversy especially as the country goes into the 2023 presidential election.
A copy of an affidavit in support of his nomination form for the presidential election, which he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), surfaced in the media last week.
In the affidavit, Tinubu said his academic certificates were stolen by unknown persons while he was in self-exile for four years.
“I went on self-exile from October 1994 to October 1998 (and) when I returned, I discovered that my property, including all the documents relating to my qualifications and my certificates in respect of paragraph 3 above were looted by unknown persons,” he stated.
