The Chief whip of the Nigerian Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu, says Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso are aiding Tinubu’s emergence as president in 2023.
In a recent interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm, Kalu suggested that the presidential candidates of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the Labour Party (LP), Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi respectively, are indirectly helping to ensure the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Tinubu.
He believes this is being achieved by dividing southern votes.
Kalu went on to state that the voting base of the APC in the North-West and North-East geopolitical zones remains strong and untouched. He also stated that he does not put much weight in pre-election polls, which have placed Obi ahead of the 18 presidential candidates, including Tinubu.
He said, “I don’t believe in the poll; it’s not realistic.
“If it wants to be realistic, Kwankwaso and Peter Obi are working for us because nobody has touched our base; nobody has touched the strongest base of the APC. The North-West and the North-East are our bases. But come to the South-East, it is divided, come to the South-South, it is divided.
“It’s finished with Obidients. Nobody has touched our base; our base is still intact; it is as good as anything.”
