A fire broke out at the busy Enyo filling station in Wuse Zone 1, Abuja on Friday evening, causing chaos among the local residents.

According to eyewitness Jide Babalola, the flames started around 7:05pm and quickly spread to several cars parked at the station.

Though no fatalities were reported, many residents panicked and initially believed the fire to be a bomb explosion. Despite attempts by local youths to push cars out of harm’s way, several vehicles were destroyed.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. The fire service was contacted but the intensity of the inferno was beyond their capability and equipment.

Ibrahim Mohammed Tauheed, the Public Relations Officer for the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service, stated that the situation has been brought under control with the efforts of the fire fighters and the police.
