The distressing news was disclosed by an unnamed source familiar with the matter. According to the source, the victims were working on their farms when the bandits launched the attack, leaving a trail of destruction and grief in their wake.

Yahaya Musa, the elected representative of the Kakangi Constituency in the State House of Assembly, confirmed the incident. Musa stated that all the individuals who tragically lost their lives were farmers. He also mentioned that those who sustained gunshot injuries during the attack were promptly rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.

Speaking about the incident, Musa expressed his grief, saying, “Yes, it was confirmed to me this Sunday morning that nine farmers were killed by bandits at Unguwar Danko near Dogon Dawa village on Saturday afternoon, and others sustained gunshot injuries.”

The situation became even more volatile when enraged villagers confronted the bandits in response to the heinous act. The confrontation resulted in additional villagers suffering gunshot wounds, intensifying the gravity of the incident.

As of now, the Kaduna State Government has yet to respond to the alleged attack, leaving locals concerned about the lack of official action and assistance in the wake of the tragedy. Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, DSC Mohammed Jalige, for a statement on the matter have been unsuccessful. Calls made to Jalige went unanswered, and text messages sent to his phone were unacknowledged.

The community of Unguwar Danko and its neighboring areas are now grappling with shock and grief as they mourn the loss of their fellow farmers. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the escalating security challenges faced by farming communities in the region, further emphasizing the urgent need for enhanced measures to protect innocent lives and secure the affected areas.
