ABUJA – President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) accompanied President-elect Bola Tinubu on a familiarisation tour of the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday. The visit took place shortly after the two leaders observed Jummah Prayers at the Aso Villa Mosque.
Buhari and Tinubu arrived at the Press Gallery at approximately 1:18 pm, where the President provided a brief introduction to the area. “This is the Gallery where you will be meeting members of the press,” Buhari informed Tinubu as they emerged from the waiting room of the Aso Chambers.
This visit comes just a day after President Buhari conferred the National Honour of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on Tinubu and the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima at the State House Banquet Hall. The ceremony symbolized the recognition of their contributions to the nation.
In a similar vein, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo conducted a tour of the Vice President Wing of the State House with Vice President-elect Shettima on Thursday. These engagements reflect the ongoing preparations for the official handover of power scheduled for Monday, May 29, 2023.
