With government officials in attendance, Senator Akume took the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office, solidifying his position as the SGF in the esteemed presence of Vice President Kashim Shettima, President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, and Mrs. Regina Akume, the spouse of the newly sworn-in SGF.

Last Friday, President Tinubu announced Senator George Akume’s appointment as the SGF, recognizing his exceptional qualities and suitability for the crucial role. In addition, the President appointed the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, as his Chief of Staff, while former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, was appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff.

The swearing-in ceremony marked a significant milestone in the government’s administrative structure, as Senator George Akume assumes the vital responsibilities of the SGF.
