Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State left the Osogbo Eid praying ground in anger after a clash with ex-senate spokesperson Ajibola Basiru over the sitting arrangement. The incident occurred during the observance of the Turakat congregational prayer, where Basiru arrived with other prominent individuals from Osogbo, including Asiwaju of Osogbo Chief Tunde Badmus.
LatestNaija.news understands that Basiru initially sat in a reserved front-row seat, but one of Adeleke’s protocol officers approached him, stating that the seat was reserved for the Governor. Basiru then moved to another seat on the front row, but the protocol officer objected to the change.
Shortly after, Governor Adeleke arrived at the Eid prayer ground, with Chief Badmus leaving his seat to welcome him from the gate. The protocol officer insisted that Basiru should vacate the front row, but some locals opposed the request, arguing that Basiru is one of their prominent sons.

The disagreement sparked an uproar, leading to Adeleke returning to his car in frustration. After a few minutes, he reappeared but noticed that Basiru was still seated in the front row. In a fit of anger, the Governor left the praying ground without participating in the prayer.
Following Adeleke’s departure, police operatives closed the gate and informed worshippers that they had orders to arrest Basiru. However, the worshippers resisted and managed to force the gate open. Basiru and other prominent indigenes of Osogbo proceeded to observe the prayers and later left the venue.
Efforts to obtain comments from Basiru and Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, were unsuccessful as they did not respond to calls or texts at the time of filing this report.
