Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has informed the state’s assembly of an extension of his medical leave.
Akeredolu had embarked on a 21-day medical leave on June 7 and was expected to return on July 6.
However, the governor is yet to return to the country.
Olamide Oladiji, the Ondo assembly speaker, said on Monday that Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the deputy governor, would continue to act as governor “until there is a written declaration to the contrary”.
Akeredolu had in a letter dated June 5, 2023, earlier informed the House of his decision to proceed on medical leave and was expected to resume on July 6, 2023.
