Kizz Daniel’s Battle with Bullying

In a candid revelation, Nigerian music sensation Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, better known as Kizz Daniel, has shed light on the profound impact of childhood bullying on his social development. The chart-topping artist shared his personal experience during the latest episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, hosted by Adesope Olajide.

Kizz Daniel disclosed that his formative years were marked by the torment of being overweight, which made him an easy target for bullies and mockery from his peers. Reflecting on those challenging times, the ‘Buga’ crooner recounted how he withdrew into his own world to cope with the relentless taunts.

“I have built a world of my own in my head since I was little,” he said. “Because growing up, I was a fat kid. I was chubby. So, I don’t go out because the kids in the area make fun of me. They called me orobo (someone who is fat). And they bullied me. So I always stay indoors.”

During his self-imposed isolation, Kizz Daniel’s imagination became his sanctuary, as he constructed a vivid fantasy world to escape the harsh reality of his surroundings. This inner world provided solace and comfort during his childhood, but it came at a cost.

“So, I reintroduced myself to the world after I lost weight; I lost all forms of social skills. I don’t know how to communicate. I don’t know how to socialize with people,” he admitted, shedding light on the long-lasting effects of the bullying he endured during his youth.

Kizz Daniel’s candid revelation serves as a poignant reminder of the profound impact of childhood experiences on an individual’s social and emotional development. The artist’s resilience and journey toward self-discovery continue to inspire many of his fans, who look up to him not only for his musical talent but also for his courage in sharing personal struggles.
