The announcement took place in a room bustling with party agents and election observers, where Johnson Urama declared, “Ahmed Usman Ododo of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”

With a resounding victory, Ododo secured 446,237 votes, solidifying his position as the governor-elect of Kogi State. His closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), trailed behind with 259,052 votes, while Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 46,362 votes.

The results from all 21 local government areas (LGAs) in the state were meticulously collated late on Sunday night, revealing Ododo’s dominant performance, with the APC candidate winning over half of the LGAs.

Ododo’s journey to victory in the Kogi State governorship election was marked by his status as the anointed candidate of the outgoing Governor Yahaya Bello, who is concluding his double terms of eight years in office.
