In a bid to resolve the ongoing nationwide strike, the federal government of Nigeria is currently engaged in high-level talks with executives of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Among the notable attendees is the Minister of Labour, Simon Bako Lalong, who has been at the forefront of government efforts to address the concerns raised by the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). Additionally, Minister of State, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyeajeocha, is present, along with the esteemed NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, who is overseeing the proceedings.

The labour delegation is headed by Festus Osifo, the President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and includes prominent figures like Emmanuel Ugboaja, the Secretary-General of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and other influential labour leaders who have played pivotal roles in the strike action.

A nationwide strike was declared by the NLC and TUC in response to a litany of grievances on November 14. The strike, initiated by the NLC and TUC  was a response to the alleged brutality faced by Ajaero in Imo State.

The attack, which occurred in Imo State, has raised concerns nationwide and prompted calls for justice

The ongoing strike action by the labor union has had a significant impact on various sectors of the economy, including transportation, education, healthcare, and government services.
