Actress Dakore Akande has issued a cease and desist notice to the Instagram blog “Gistloversblog” following a post that linked her romantically with Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Akande’s legal representatives claim the blog published “suggestive and libellous content” featuring Akande’s image, which they argue could damage her reputation.
The article, now viral, falsely links Akande to Akpabio, despite her being “happily married to Mr. Akande for many years” and having “never met the said Senate President in person or otherwise.”
Akande’s lawyers demand the immediate removal of the defamatory post and an end to any further defamatory statements about the actress. They warned that failure to comply within 24 hours could result in “aggressive legal actions,” including seeking damages, injunctive relief, and legal expenses. The notice references Section 375 of the Criminal Code Act, suggesting the post could be considered defamation.
