Ikeja Electric to Phase Out Unistar Prepaid Meters by November 14 Deadline

Customers Urged to Upgrade Meters to Avoid Service Interruptions

Ikeja Electric to Phase Out Unistar Prepaid Meters by November 14 Deadline

Ikeja Electric Plc has announced that all Unistar prepaid meters will be phased out by November 14, 2024, in anticipation of a TID (Token Identifier) rollover. The power distribution company is urging its customers to apply for new prepaid meters to prevent interruptions in their electricity service and avoid switching to estimated billing.

In a public notice posted on its official social media platforms, Ikeja Electric informed customers of the impending change, stating: “Dear Esteemed Customer, please note all Unistar meters will be phased out by 14th November 2024 as TID rollover beckons. Kindly visit smartkyc.ikejaelectric.com today to apply for a new prepaid meter.”

The transition is necessary due to technological upgrades that aim to improve the accuracy and efficiency of meter reading. The TID rollover represents a system update that will render existing Unistar meters incompatible with the new technology, hence the need for the replacement.

How to Apply for a New Prepaid Meter:

To ensure a seamless upgrade, customers are advised to apply for new prepaid meters through the Ikeja Electric Smart KYC (Know Your Customer) portal at smartkyc.ikejaelectric.com. The process involves filling out an application form with the required personal and meter details.

Customers who do not upgrade to the new meters may face estimated billing, a move Ikeja Electric is keen to avoid by facilitating a smooth meter replacement process.

The company has urged customers to take timely action before the November 14 deadline to maintain uninterrupted service. As the deadline approaches, Ikeja Electric promises to continue providing updates and assistance to ensure customers transition to the new prepaid meters with ease.
