Meta has announced that Instagram will soon introduce a new feature enabling users to completely refresh the content recommendations appearing on their Feeds, Explore, and Reels sections. The “recommendations reset” feature, designed to clear out the algorithmically generated content, will roll out globally in the near future, giving users more control over what they see on the platform.
Meta’s announcement highlighted its commitment to providing a safer and more meaningful experience for all users, particularly teenagers. “We want to make sure everyone on Instagram – especially teens – has safe, positive, age-appropriate experiences and feels the time they’re spending on Instagram is valuable,” Meta said. “We want to give teens new ways to shape their Instagram experience, so it can continue to reflect their passions and interests as they evolve.”
The new feature will allow users to clear their content recommendations in just a few taps, offering a fresh start that personalizes content based on new interactions and interests moving forward. As part of the reset process, users will have the option to review and reconsider which accounts they follow, potentially unfollowing some to further tailor the content they encounter in the future.
