Interior Minister urges Nigerians to embrace unity, peace, and goodwill during the festive season.
The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, made the announcement on behalf of the government in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
In the statement, the Minister extended warm greetings to Nigerians and called on citizens to use the festive season to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that Christmas symbolizes.
“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated.
He emphasized the importance of fostering harmony and strengthening family and community bonds during this period, urging Nigerians to remain committed to the nation’s unity, peace, and progress.
The Minister also reassured citizens of the government’s dedication to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the nation. He expressed optimism about the future, highlighting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as a foundation for a better and prosperous economy in 2025.
While wishing Nigerians a merry Christmas and a happy New Year, Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged everyone to embrace the season’s spirit of love and goodwill for collective national development.
