Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State inspected a string of road construction projects on Tuesday, walking through sites that will define his administration's infrastructure push in the coming months.
The centrepiece of his tour was the 40-kilometre Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umualor-Neke-Ikem dual carriageway, a sprawling project designed to open up the southeastern region and ease movement between communities that have long relied on broken roads. Mbah spent time at the construction site, examining the progress of work and speaking with contractors about timelines and challenges.
He also visited the 14.5-kilometre Amechi Idodo-Oruku-Amagunze Road, another major route that will benefit from the government's infrastructure agenda. The governor reviewed several other projects during the tour, though details on their scope and status were not immediately provided.
The inspection came ahead of Mbah's formal inauguration, signalling the projects he intends to prioritise in his first term. Road infrastructure has been a persistent complaint in Enugu, with many communities cut off during the rainy season and traders losing goods on damaged highways. The dual carriageways promise to change that picture, though residents will be watching to see how quickly the work moves from inspection stage to completion. Mbah is expected to outline his full development plan once he takes office.
