Ex-PSG defender Okpara backs Osimhen Manchester United move

Former Paris Saint-Germain defender Godwin Okpara says Victor Osimhen should join Manchester United this summer, arguing the Premier League club offers the best next step for the Nigerian striker's career.

Okpara told Soccernet that Osimhen has exhausted the major European leagues and needs a fresh challenge in England. The ex-defender reasoned that the Galatasaray forward has already played in Belgium, France and Italy, so a move to Manchester United makes logical sense if a Spanish club does not materialise.

"For me, I would prefer him to go to Manchester United," Okpara said. "He has already played in Belgium, France and Italy. Now, what comes next? If he can't go to Spain, why not England? Manchester United is the best place for him because he will enjoy his football there."

Osimhen's future remains uncertain after his loan spell at Galatasaray from Napoli. The 25-year-old striker has been linked with several top European clubs this transfer window, with Manchester United among the reported suitors. His agent and potential buyers continue to explore options that could benefit the player's career trajectory.

Okpara's endorsement adds to the growing conversation about Osimhen's next destination, though the striker has not publicly stated his preference. The last Super Eagles player to wear a Manchester United shirt was Odion Ighalo, who made 28 appearances for the club between 2020 and 2021 before returning to Shanghai Shenhua.
