EFCC declares foreigner, two Nigerians wanted for fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared a foreign national and two Nigerian suspects wanted for alleged financial crimes.

The EFCC did not immediately release the names of the three suspects or specify the nature of the fraud allegations against them. The commission typically issues wanted notices when it has evidence linking individuals to financial crimes but has been unable to locate them for questioning or arrest.

Financial fraud cases in Nigeria often involve schemes ranging from investment scams and money laundering to business email compromise and cryptocurrency-related offences. The involvement of a foreign national suggests the alleged crimes may have had cross-border dimensions, which frequently triggers EFCC investigation.

The commission encouraged members of the public with information about the suspects' whereabouts to contact the nearest EFCC office or call the agency's hotline. The EFCC has previously used public notices to mobilise community assistance in tracking down suspects, a strategy that has yielded results in past investigations.

This development comes as the EFCC continues its crackdown on financial crimes across the country. In recent months, the commission has intensified operations against fraudsters, with multiple arrests and convictions recorded in high-profile cases involving both local and international actors.

Members of the public can report any information about the wanted suspects to the EFCC's office in their state or contact the commission's fraud reporting channels. The EFCC has committed to maintaining confidentiality for informants who provide credible leads.
