Nigerian music hotties Burna Boy and Rema are among the talents who have earned nominations at this year’s BET Awards.
With U.S. hip hop star Drake leading with 6 nominations, the 2020 edition will air on June 28, 2020, on BET and CBS, featuring musical behemoths from across the globe.
Nigeria’s Burna Boy (who won the Best International Act last year at the same event) has been nominated again in the Best International Act category, contending with the likes of Stormzy from the U.K., Ninho from France, and others.
Rema battles with Sha Sha (Zimbabwe), Celeste (U.K.), Hatik (France), Young T & Bugsey (U.K.), and Stacy (France) in the Viewer’s Choice (Best New International Act) category.
Since Burna’s African Giant album got a Grammy nomination last year, his career has gone international so his nomination for the second year in a row at the 2020 BET Awards comes as no surprise.
Rema, on the other hand, is a newbie but he has shown promise as he continues to go beyond borders and boundaries. Here is wishing both of them emerge winners at the event.
