Nollywood veteran actor and director Ramsey Nouah has been called out by a lady who identified herself as a graphic designer whose work was used in Living in Bondage: Breaking Free without her being paid for it.
The twitter user whose account is @louisajlo revealed that she was contacted in 2018 to work as a graphic designer on Living in Bondage: Breaking Free.
She said she was excited to work on a project of that magnitude and knew nothing about any paperwork (neither did she sign any) regarding the job.
The lady requested a down payment but was told by the then media director that the budget was yet to be approved, pleading with her not to worry that he would give her the funds in due time. She agreed and started working.
She says the job entailed designing a cult symbol, company logos, a blog page design, an Instagram page for Nnamdi (the main character of the film), a photoshop of him in NYSC uniform, custom license plates, and a lot of other stuff.
After rejecting her earlier cult designs, the producers reportedly liked the fourth one she did and this encouraged her to work sleepless nights on the other ones.
She sent the designs for the company logos but was told they weren’t good enough. As if that wasn’t enough, the media director informed her to stop working on the company logos as a professional had been brought in from Abuja to do just that. She was told to go ahead with the rest.
Things took an unexpected turn when she was contacted again by the media director who told her that he had been fired. According to him, the crew hadn’t been pleased with the quality of work he had been bringing and how he handled his part of the production process. She confirmed the news of his being fired from his sister whom she knows.
The graphic designer asked about her work and payment and was told by the media director that he wasn’t paid. He said they chose not to use her designs. He apologized for everything.
Almost two years later, she saw the movie and was shocked to see her designs. Worse still, she hadn’t gotten any payment and was credited either.
She disclosed that she has tried to contact actor Ramsey Nouah (who directed and starred in the film) so that she can be compensated for her work but to no avail.
