Album Review: Fireboy DML’s "Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps" Is A Glimpse Into The Soul Of A Musical Prodigy
Fireboy DML Laughter Tears & Goosebumps album artwork

Fireboy DML has stardom in his veins and one only has to hear him sing to know that. Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps makes us realize that when music is this good, it is never enough. And that is what makes the album work; it leaves the listener yearning for more.

Scatter is one good party jam that combines Naija pop flavour with a techno feel that puts one in gyrating mood. It is the antidote to moodiness and the singer dishes it like it’s supposed to be.
The popular Jealous track is another unique song that examines the effect of being love drunk. It is lyrically intoxicating with the singer’s falsetto making a damn good job of tickling the senses.

Like I Do is a love song for the ages. The kind of effect it brings is better felt than described as words may not be enough to paint a clear picture of what it does. It is a sensational journey into the heartstrings of Fireboy DML.

Gbas Gbos is an afrobeat track that shows how talent can be put to good use. The remarkable thing about the artist is not what he sings about but how he does it. At a certain point, the lyrics no longer matter, just the wonderful rhythm of the melody.

The mixing and production, in general, deserve to be applauded as everything is fine-tuned in the right doses to make an album that is nothing short of a pure work of art.

The songs here are short as good songs should be. Anything beyond that would only lead to it being tiresome.

Fireboy DML is the real deal and YBNL are lucky to have him. His album makes a strong statement about how much he has to offer and how good it makes music lovers feel.
