‘Clark’: Bill Skarsgard Set To Play Notorious Criminal In Netflix’s New Series

Bill Skarsgard, the actor who played Pennywise the evil clown in It, has been cast as the lead in Netflix’s upcoming series Clark.

Skarsgard’s impressive take on the supernatural killer in the 2017 horror film and its sequel seems to have nabbed him another role as he will play Swedish criminal Clark Olofsson in the six-part Netflix series, as reported by Deadline.

The show is a Swedish language adaptation of Olofsson’s biography in which the convicted drug trafficker and bank robber reflected on his criminal escapades which commenced in the 1960s.

Olofsson gave rise to the “Stockholm syndrome” in which hostages forge an affinity with their captor, after a failed bank robbery in the Swedish capital in 1973.

Directed by Jonas Akerlund, Clark will be produced by the Scandinavian Content Group. It is written by Fredrik Agetoft, Peter Arrhenius, and Jonas Akerlund.

Speaking on the character he is set to portray, Skarsgard said:

Clark Olofsson is, for good and bad, one of Sweden’s most colorful and fascinating individuals. I accept this challenge with delight mingled with terror and think that with Jonas and Netflix in the back, we can tell a groundbreaking story with a pace and madness we may not have seen on TV before.”

Director Akerlund also added, “Clark is the story about the most politically incorrect man, who lived the most politically incorrect life. These are the kind of stories I always look for.”
