Disney + series WandaVision is set to resume production this July.
Marvel’s show starring Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany as Vision reportedly wrapped filming before Hollywood film and TV productions had to be shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the series still needs some additional touches.
The Tampa Bay Comic Convention, Bettany has canceled his appearance at the event as the series heads back into production in July 2020.
Their statement reads:
We finally received word from Paul Bettany’s representation, and unfortunately, Paul had to cancel his appearance at TBCC this year due being called back by Disney for WandaVision filming in July, in Los Angeles. We’re working on guest additions!”
While productions have been halted, WandaVision has been deep into post-production as the editing work was done remotely. Now, it has been realized that additional footage needs to be shot.
The series has been described as “a mash-up between American sitcoms throughout the decades and Marvel’s films with these characters.
The story will reportedly snowball into an epic Marvel movie that fans have grown up to know and love. It is said to start Wanda on the path of actually becoming Scarlet Witch, and it will have repercussions for the entire future of the MCU in Phase 4.
WandaVision will also feature the Sentient World Observation and Response Department (S.W.O.R.D.), a subdivision of S.H.I.E.L.D. that deals with alien threats that threaten world security.
