WILLOW is an epic fantasy movie that was directed by Ron Howard

Ron Howard’s 1988 movie Willow is getting a follow-up in the form of an upcoming series on Disney +.

Willow is a fantasy adventure film written by Star Wars mastermind George Lucas that starred Val Kilmer and Warwick Davis.

It was a movie that was awe-inspiring with its magical elements and the popular theme of the eternal battle of good versus evil playing a major part.

Director Ron Howard has been working on the sequel and reports have confirmed that the script for the project has been completed.

Howard had made the following statement back in May:

There are some really serious discussions going on with Jon Kasdan, who was one of the writers of Solo, who kept hounding me about Willow the whole time we were shooting and also hounding Kathy Kennedy. We’re in discussions about developing a Willow television show for the Disney+. And I think it’d be a great way to go. In fact, George always talked about the possibility of a Willow series, and it’d be great and more intimate, and built around that character and some of the others. And Jon Kasdan has, I think, an inspired take on it and it could be really, really cool.

Howard also revealed that Warwick Davis (who played the dwarf character) will return and the series will feature a “more mature Willow.”

Willow was about a dwarf who is aided by a swordsman (Kilmer) in his quest to protect a female child who is prophesied to bring the downfall of an evil sorceress.

It received mixed reviews and though it generated profit at the box office, it isn’t considered a blockbuster. It also got two Academy Award nominations.
