Nicholas Tofowomo, the senator representing Ondo South senatorial district has condemned the re-arrest of Omoyele by operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS)  and asked them to release him.

According to reports, the senator had said this in a statement made available by his special assistant, media and publicity, Akinrinlola Olumide, on Saturday, December 7.

He refers to the maltreatment and forceful arrest of Sowore as a gross transgression on constitutionalism.

I advise men of the DSS to act professionally within the confine of the law. They should allow the court to try Sowore and his co-defendant over allegations they leveled against them.

“The DSS should be more interested in proving the allegations they leveled against both of them. Whatever fresh charges could have been included through a mere application for amendment of their charge sheet before the court.

“Sowore is my constituent and as much as I know, he is not a terrorist and does not have any criminal record in the past. The invasion of the courtroom to rearrest him was unnecessary.

“I, therefore, call on the DSS, to as a matter of urgency, release Sowore immediately,”
