In a trial spanning about five years, Justice Jane Inyang of the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa has sentenced Ese Oruru’s abudctor, Dahiru Yunusa to 26 years in prison.

Oruru is a teenager reportedly abducted by Mr Dahiru, who is popularly known as Yellow, to Kano State and forced her into marriage.

Justice Jane Inyang, who delivered the judgment, acquitted Yellow on count one but imprisoned him five years (count two), seven years (count three), seven years (count four) and seven years, count five.

The terms will run simultaneously, according to the judge.

Miss Ese Oruru’s abduction occurred on 12 August 2015 at her mother’s shop in Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

Yunusa was subsequently arrested on charges of criminal abduction, illicit sex , sexual exploitation and unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor at the Federal High Court in Yenagoa.
