Impersonation: Group Calls For Mao Ohuabuanwa's Arrest

The group said that Ohuabuanwa’s opprobrious action is capable of causing serious confusion, stressing that his immediate arrest and prosecution will forestall duping innocent citizens with his expired mandate.

In a release made available to ABN TV, the group said their allegation of impersonation against Ohuabuanwa emanated from the Arochukwu LGA PDP Executive list after the LGA’s Congress on 21 March which the former senator consciouly signed as an incumbent senator.

They cautioned Ohuabuanwa to desist from arrogating himself an office he is not legally occupying, stressing that his actions runs contrary to section 484 of the Nigerian 1999 constitution as amended.

The release reads in part:

“The attention of the General Public is hereby drawn to the attached article signed by Mao Ohuabunwa today 21st March 2020 whereby he purportedly arrogated himself as a senator. One would have ignored it as part of his desperate scheming and perhaps an oversight.

“But for him to consciously sign a document in the name of an office that he has become functus officio and to append his signature above a serving Honorable member in the house of Representatives from his local government and also other occupiers of various government offices did not only run foul of established protocols but also has internment to deceive the public into believing he still occupied the office.

“In the light of the above we call on the inspector General of police and the Director General Of State Security Services to immediately arrest and prosecute this fraudster with a view to forestall duping innocent citizens.”
