Eight Die as Panga Boat Capsizes off San Diego’s Black Beach
At least eight people have died after a panga boat capsized near Black's Beach in San Diego County, California. Emergency services received a call reporting victims in the water on Saturday night, and rescuers had to wade through knee to waist-deep water to access the beach due to high tide. Though lifeguards initially found seven bodies, the US Customs and Border Protection's Air and Marine Operations located an eighth victim. The San Diego County Medical Examiner's office has custody of the bodies, and authorities from several agencies are investigating the incident. The tragic accident highlights the need for additional safety measures and awareness around boating in the area. Our condolences are with the families and friends of the victims.
