Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie has shed more light on her character’s split from the Joker.
We learned that Quinn broke up with the Joker (Jared Leto) before the events of Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn and it has now been revealed that Quinn had to part ways with him to forge her own path.
While speaking with Empire lately, Robbie stated that it wasn’t easy for Harley Quinn to stay strong and that though she was single, if the Joker called her she wouldn’t hesitate to run back.
She’s trying to own it. That felt like a real way to deal with a break-up. It’s not clean and easy to be a strong woman. It’s so hard. She’s a bit more Courtney Love than Debbie Harry this time. She says, ‘I’m single, I don’t need him, fu*k that guy.’ But if the Joker were to text her, ‘You up?’ she’d run. She’d fall to pieces.Margot Robbie
Well, at least Quinn will get her hands full in the upcoming movie and she won’t have time to brood over her ex-boyfriend as she and her new allies take on Ewan McGregor’s villainous Black Mask.
Here is the official synopsis for Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn:
You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.
The movie will be released on February 7, 2020.
