American-Cuban singer and songwriter Camila Cabello joins former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan in Sony’s musical retelling of the classic tale of Cinderella.
The upcoming musical is being written and directed by Kay Cannon with Idina Menzel (Frozen) taking on the part of the cruel stepmother, and Billy Porter portraying the fairy godmother.
Camila Cabello will play the titular character, a girl who is constantly maltreated by her wicked stepmother and whose fortune changes when she meets a handsome young prince. The singer’s casting choice is perfect as her talents as a vocalist and performer are undisputed.
Brosnan will play the father of the Prince (Nicholas Galitzine), with James Corden producing.
The re-imagining will see the heroine as an ambitious woman who has dreams far bigger than the world around her.
Sounds like it will be fun, plus there should be more than enough songs to please music lovers. Cinderella will arrive in theaters on February 5, 2021.
