Disney’s animated movie Frozen 2 has joined the billion-dollar club as it has now officially blasted its way past $1 billion.
Frozen 2 has enjoyed box office returns and by its most recent achievement, becomes the sixth Disney film to do so and the eighth in the year so far.
The sequel to the 2013 movie (which made $1.28 billion worldwide to become the highest-grossing animated movie of all-time) has made $366.5 million domestically, and $666 million internationally for a cumulative total of $1.032 billion.
The original movie won several awards, including an Oscar for Best Animated Feature and with its recent milestone, its successor could achieve even more.
Other movies that have crossed the billion-dollar mark this year include Avengers: Endgame (which currently holds the crown as the top-grossing film of all-time) with $2.79 billion, The Lion King ($1.65 billion), Spider-Man: Far From Home (1.31 billion), Captain Marvel (1.12 billion), Toy Story 4 (1.65 billion), Joker (1.06 billion), and Aladdin (1.05 billion).
Elsa and Anna join their friends to embark on a journey that will test the former’s icy powers and hopefully bring succor to their troubled kingdom in Frozen 2. It is currently showing in movie theaters worldwide.
