It’s the awards season and with the 92nd Academy Awards set to take place soon, a list of the ten movies that have been nominated in the Best Visual Effects category has been released.
The shortlist which was compiled by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences features some of the visually impressive films of the year and among them are Marvel’s juggernaut Avengers: Endgame and the critically acclaimed Martin Scorsese period drama The Irishman.
Endgame featured some of the most groundbreaking effects in modern-day cinema as it portrayed the titular heroes facing off against the Mad Titan, Thanos, and his army. It was a battle that shook the very essence of reality and had cosmic effects.
The Irishman is a dramatic feature that uses the de-aging technology to vividly show the characters in flashback sequences. It worked perfectly as it was difficult to spot any flaws in the pacesetting effect.
Both movies will slug it out for the grand prize on February 9, 2020, when Academy Awards takes place and the full list of the movies joining them in contention can be seen below.
