American rapper and actor Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson is executive producing Trill League, an animated black superhero series for streaming platform Quibi.
The announcement was made today by Quibi and the upcoming show is based on the graphic novel of the same name.
According to the statement from Quibi, Trill League centers on a league of black superheroes “tasked with saving the world from supervillains, monsters, and haters of all kinds in an era of injustice and internet trolls.”
The graphic novel was written by Anthony Piper and combined three distinct cultures of comic books, anime, and hip hop. The series is co-created and written by Jameel Saleem and Anthony Piper with 3 Arts Entertainment and G-Unit Television along with Lionsgate Television producing.
50 Cent was pleased to be part of the production and said he was looking forward to sharing the world created by Saleem and Piper.
I am excited to bring G-Unit Film & Television to an innovative platform like Quibi with my partners at Lionsgate and 3 Arts. Anthony Piper and Jameel Saleem have created a world we haven’t seen before in ‘Trill League,’ looking forward to sharing it soon.50 Cent – thewrap.com
